About kbdtest.
kbdtest provides focused browser tools for checking a physical keyboard and measuring typing performance.
What you can check
The keyboard tester highlights the key events your browser receives, distinguishes held keys from previously tested keys, and lets you download a local report. Windows and Mac selections adapt the reference diagram, while full-size, TKL and compact options help match your keyboard.
The typing test measures speed and accuracy against a fixed passage. The ghosting and rollover test shows which keys register when you hold several at once.
How the tools work
Scoring and keyboard event handling run in JavaScript on your device. No account or installation is required. Test events and typed text are kept in page memory rather than uploaded by these tools. See our Privacy Policy for details about hosting and external font requests.
Understanding the results
These tools show browser input, not a direct measurement of the electronics inside your keyboard. Firmware, remapping, accessibility settings, operating system shortcuts and browser behavior can change the events a website receives. Layouts vary between manufacturers and countries.
We describe these limitations alongside the tools and in our testing guides. Compare a suspected fault in another application or on another device before deciding that hardware needs repair.
